The Vision of the Valdes Island Conservancy is that Valdes Island be recognized for its globally-significant and locally-rare biological diversity.
Our Mission Statement

The Mission of the Conservancy is to conserve and protect the existing biological and cultural communities of Valdes Island and its environs.
Our Core Values
The Core Values of the Conservancy are:
- To act ethically, with integrity, honesty, and honour
- To be fair, just, and reasonable
- To act with respect and transparency, without corruption, in both the listening and relaying of information.
- To honour and be guided by evidence-based evaluations.
- To be advocates for the Island in face of threats to biological and cultural integrity of the Island
- To be advocates and stewards of the goals outlined in the Conservancy's Mission Statement
- To ensure transparency and full engagement of the membership through emails, social media, newsletters, AGMs, and day-to-day conversations.
- To encourage a multi-generational approach to governance, planning, and membership.
2016 - 2020 Strategic Plan
The Board of Directors of the Valdes Island Conservancy recently completed a 4-year Strategic Plan that will serve to guide the Conservancy and the future Board of Directors. The next steps will include outreach to our membership to formulate the work plans for the Conservancy and its Committees.
