Best Management Practices and Good Stewardship
The natural environment of Valdes Island is highly sensitive to human presence, even by the relatively seasonal population that resides there. To that end, it is important that we all practice good environmental stewardship and implement those Best Management Practices recommended by the Province of British Columbia. This goes beyond keeping your feet and those of your four-legged friends on all paths, even in the muddy season, or taking all your refuse off the island when you leave. Below, we've provided recommendations put forth by the Province, to be considered as we hand-off the island to the younger generations.
